WELCOME

There are so many places to start when learning about your food-

so start with something that interests you, and you'll be surprised to see how it all relates.

Experts of the broadest (and sometimes most random backgrounds have discovered connections of their passions with food- sometimes this brings them to find a new passion for themselves...

The Food Brief

Everyone eats to survive. Because of this, we owe it to ourselves to become a little educated about the fuel we put in our bodies. More and more of the general public is showing interest in learning about fators in the web of resources, processes, elements, people and places referred to as our food system. You could say our food system is broken, but what exactly does that mean? In this web, all factors affect each other- it would be inaccurate to point out exactly what is "broken" without realizing everything else has some broken pieces, too.

To make such a claim, as so many of us do when we think we know what we're eating, one must have a pretty solid understanding that there is so much more involves that what meets the eye. Instead of accepting what we're eating (because it's easier that way), ask yourself this- "what are we eating and how did it get here?" After all, food doesn't just appear out of thin air.

The more we know about this system as consumers, the better choices we will make for ourselves and those we care about. The earth and all it gives us is the foundation for our food, and therefore, ourselves.

With advancing technology and resources, food produced in our industrialized system lacks the honesty and integrity real sustenance is meant to give us. It is difficult and confusing for people to understand where their food is coming from- without even knowing it, the nutrition-seekers humans have been for thousands of years have turned into native devourers.
